Meet the Founder
Diego Ramirez is the President and founder of Stroke Scan Inc. (SSI), the second most relevant mobile ultrasound wellness company in the U.S. SSI was founded in 2001 in Houston, Texas, and since then has saved thousands of lives. Driven by a passion for helping others, Diego led SSI’s growth, tripling its size in Texas from 2001 to 2012, then expanding nationally in 2012 and growing to over 40 states by 2019 through strategic management and staff expansion.
Diego is a devoted family man with two sons and a loving wife, whom he describes as “my angel that walks on this earth. It would take me three lifetimes to find such a special woman again!” Passionate about music, Diego has been playing guitar and various other instruments since 1982, recording multiple albums with various bands and performing on the legendary Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Diego’s family is very fond of traveling. His favorite trip was a three-week climb to Kilimanjaro and safaris in Tanzania and Ngorongoro Crater. His dreams are to continue his passion of growing SSP to save more lives and to travel to Antarctica.

Before Stroke Scan Inc.: Software Engineering
In the mid-90s, the world was being transformed by the Internet. This inspired Diego to make a pivotal career shift. In 1996, before completing his Ph.D. in Physics, he transitioned into the tech industry. From 1996 to 2014, Diego worked at Chase Bank, Zefer Corp, and Compaq Computer Corp (which later became Hewlett Packard). Initially starting as a software engineer (SE), Diego designed websites and internet applications. He soon found his niche in "Requirements Management," focusing on translating business needs and processes into the language software analysts could use for their designs. While at Chase Bank, Diego implemented the first Online Banking portal for their Private Bank clients in 1997. He earned his PMI certification in 2009 and Agile Scrum Master certification in 2012.
Education and Research
Diego began his research career in 1990 as a research assistant at the University of Houston, working under the Nobel Prize nominee, Dr. Paul Chu, director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Houston in 1993. That same year, Diego entered the Ph.D. program in physics, where he worked as a research assistant on high-temperature superconductors and their behavior under extreme pressures. During this time, he contributed to multiple publications and patents, including a significant 1994 study that raised the temperature of a superconductor to 164 Kelvin—a world record that stood until 2015. To prepare for his dissertation, Diego also trained under H. K. Mao at the Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution for Science. Mao once held the Guinness World Record for the highest laboratory pressure achieved using the diamond anvil cell.
